Our vision is a healthy New Jersey, achieved by supporting wellness one person and one community at a time.
Our Mission
At the New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN), we work to create healthier communities by reducing the burden of substance misuse, addiction, and other chronic disease.
What We Do
NJPN is a multifaceted public health agency that supports substance misuse prevention, addiction treatment, and recovery support programs through collaboration and professional training for all of New Jersey.
A leader in the field of addiction, NJPN advocates for best practices across the continuum of care while providing educational pathways for professionals and resources to organizations that are the change makers in New Jersey.
PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES
NJPN supports peer recovery workers who through their lived and living experience guide individuals in finding their pathway to recovery. We provide initial and advanced trainings for certification.
CLINICAL TRAINING & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
We support clinical professionals working throughout the continuum of care and provide initial and advanced training required to obtain and maintain certifications and licensure.
SUBSTANCE MISUSE PREVENTION
We work with a network of agencies implementing evidence-based strategies where people learn, work and play. We provide training and develop tools to enhance local and statewide prevention services in every NJ county.
NJPN is committed to lessening the impact of economic, clinical, and environmental disparities that may hinder opportunities to access and receive quality and equitable health resources. We do this through access to education, positive system changes, and policy development to foster respect, inclusion, and accessible resources.
We acknowledge that combating racism, discrimination, and inequity is an ongoing commitment. We step forward to create an open dialogue about these complex issues and work together to forge ahead.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
NJPN
A BRIEF HISTORY
NJPN was established in 1998 to lead New Jersey’s system of prevention agencies, creating a groundbreaking network that is the foundation of many successful evidence-based programs and systems currently operating throughout New Jersey.
Soon after, NJPN began building a strong workforce for prevention, treatment, and peer recovery to support the many service needs throughout the state. NJPN’s clinical workforce program was created to increase the supply of trained addiction treatment professionals, serving CDA, CADC, and LCADC populations. More recently, NJPN’s fast-growing peer workforce department bolsters NJ’s peer recovery support workforce through NCPRSS and CPRS certification.
Towards the goal of helping all New Jerseyans to be healthy and able to thrive, NJPN draws on unparalleled experience, expertise, and partnerships achieved over the past 20+ years. No other organization in NJ brings such reach, depth and scope to the work of substance use and addressing the factors that contribute to its prevalence.
